Sonakshi Sinha New Face Of D'Damas

Dabangg actress Sonakshi Sinha has been announced as the new face of the D'Damas diamond jewellery brand. She has taken over from Preity Zinta.

"Sonakshi Sinha is the face of the new Indian woman who is confident, versatile and has got tremendous self-belief. She has the charisma, grace, beauty and the attitude that goes perfectly with the brand image," said R.K. Menon, COO, D'damas Jewellery India Pvt Ltd.

The 23-year-old is also associated with brands like Dyna Soap, Colgate toothpaste and Provogue's women wear line where she is seen endorsing the products.

"I connect with D'Damas because I personally live each moment to the fullest and believe in celebrating life. D'Damas adds celebration to both ordinary and even the everyday special occasions," said Sonakshi.

Vinay Pathak Makes Singing Debut With Bheja Fry 2

Actor Vinay Pathak, who has gained an appreciable success with his off-beat films, now goes behind the microphone for his forthcoming film Bheja Fry 2, which is a sequel to his 1999 comedy.

The song titled Oh Rahi Rahi is based on the '60s theme and is filmed entirely in black and white. Vinay is not the first actor to sing. Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachhan, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol, Akshay Kumar are among others who have lent their voice to their films.

A source close to the actor said that Vinay, being a huge classical music fan, took inspiration from iconic yesteryear singers like Mohammad Rafi, Mukesh, and Kishore Kumar while preparing for the song.

"Vinay was very kicked about the idea of singing in the Bheja Fry 2 - his character Bharat Bhushan is a wannabe singer and hence the makers thought why not have a promotional song featuring and sung by Vinay."

"Vinay is a big fan of old Hindi songs and would listen to classics from Mohammad Rafi, Mukeshji, and Kishore Kumar to prepare for his singing debut," said the source.

Produced by Mukul Deora and directed by Sagar Ballery "Bheja Fry 2", which also stars Kay Kay Menon, Minissha Lamba, Suresh Menon and Amol Gupte, is set to hit theatres July 15.

Actress Kavya's Marriage Annulled

Popular Malayalam film actress Kavya Madhavan's marriage with Nischal Chandra was officially annulled Monday by the Ernakulam family court.

They had officially decided to separate in October last year and filed a joint divorce petition at the court.

The settlement came after several rounds of talks. It was agreed that the actress will withdraw her petition against Chandra and his family under the Domestic Violence Act.

According to George Sebastian, a Kerala Congress leader who mediated in the talks, both parties appeared in the court May 24 to finalise the proceedings.

Kavya, a leading actress, and Chandra, a computer engineer, were married in February 2009.

Born in Nileshwaram in Kasaragod district, the actress entered the industry as a child artist in 1991. She then acted with leading stars like Mammootty, Mohanlal, Jayaram and Dilip.

Her popular films include Meesha Madhavan, Madhamabhi, Classmates and Ananthabhadram.

Release date of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan postponed…

The release date of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, a Yash Raj film starring Imran Khan, Katrina Kaif and Ali Zafar has been pushed from July to September 9.
The makers saw no point in releasing the film the same month as Imran Khan’s Delhi Belly and Katrina Kaif’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.
Says a source, “MBKD is YRF’s next big film. They decided to play it safe rather than battle it out with two other biggies starring their lead stars.
Imran Khan’s DB releases July 1 and Kat’s ZNMD is out July 15. The overlapping of stars might confuse audiences.”
Moreover, Imran and Katrina would also be required to promote their other films. As a result, there will be clash of dates and it could affect the publicity of their film.

‘Ra.One’ gets entry in the Limca Book Of Records..

As reported earlier, Ra.One happens to be Shahrukh Khan’s dream project and so the actor can go to any extent to see the films success. The latest we hear is that SRK has planned to start the longest fan mail for the film. It will earn an entry in the Limca Book Of Records.
This is a unique pan-India promotional tour that will last as long as five months until the release of Ra.One on October 26 this year. The campaign begins today in Mumbai and will soon travel to five cities: Delhi, Chandigarh, Indore and Ahmedabad.
Says a source, “He plans his film’s promotional strategies himself and in tandem with his team. Now he has planned the events in such a way that before the sci-fi thriller releases, every Indian city would have heard of the film.”
The source adds, “From today, he kicks off an inter-city tour that stars, normally do just a month before the release.
But, in a first-of-its-kind strategy, SRK will be travelling to five cities every month. He will span 25 cities in five months. While SRK travels solo for this tour Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal join him for the other tours.”

Asin missing from Salman’s ‘Ready’ world premiere, in Dubai…

Salman Khan’s most awaited film ‘Ready’, is all set for its dhamaka world premiere in Dubai. But, the film’s leading lady Asin Thottumkal will be missing from action there.
The reason for her absence happens to be another man, a friend of Salman’s, Sajid Nadiadwala.
Asin who has been signed on as one of the 18 actors in Nadiadwala’s Housefull 2 had applied for UK visa since she would be needed in London for shooting a part of the said film. Her passport, as it happens, is still stuck there.
A source informed, “Asin has given her passport to Nadiadwala Grandsons, the production house for her next film, since she’ll be joining the crew in London immediately after Ready releases. She wants to go but now she can’t.”
Asin confirmed the news and added, “I was looking forward to the world premiere of Ready happening in Dubai. Both Salman and I were supposed to go but now I am stuck.
I have not given up hope though and I am ready to fly even at the last minute. I am just praying that I get my passport. I have even packed my bags. Let’s hope that the passport comes at the last minute and I get to attend.”

Ajay’s ‘Singham’ causes delay in Shahid’s ‘Mausam’ release date…

One of the most awaited love stories of the year ‘Mausam’, headlining Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor is now postponed from July 22nd to date unknown. Reason: To avoid a fratricidal clash with Ajay Devgan’s cop thriller Singham.
Singham is also scheduled for July 22 release.
A source says, “Mausam was to clash with Singham, but the first rushes and promo of Singham have got rave reviews within the industry making Mausam makers question the wisdom of clashing with Rohit Shetty’s action flick.”
Mausam marks Pankaj Kapur’s directorial debut. He has also penned the film’s script. It took three years to think and plan the script and 6 months to physically write it.

YRF flick to star Shahrukh, Kajol and Katrina???

Buzz has it that in the upcoming YRF’s a romantic saga, starring SRK and Katrina Kaif in the lead role, Kajol too, will have a major role to play. It seems that, there is another spot in the movie and YRF’s favourite actress, Kads is being considered for it.
The source reveals, “Chopra is very keen to have Kads opposite Shah Rukh. He is quite fond of both of them and loves their onscreen pairing. He feels that they can create the same magic.”
“While it’s sure that Katrina will star in the film, it could be possible that the movie is a love triangle and that they have approached Kajol to either reprise the other romantic lead or do a cameo,” the source further adds.
The filmmaker who has directed movies like Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Silsila, etc. is returning to direction after seven years, with a romantic film. His last directorial venture was Veer Zara in 2004.

Dabangg, Ishqiya, 58th National Film Award winners

The 58th National Film Awards was announced on Thursday evening, with Dabangg, Ishqiya and Do Dooni Char bagging top honors from Bollywood.
Salman Khan starrer superhit film Dabangg (the highest grossing film of 2010), lead from the front picking up the Best Popular Film award. The critically acclaimed film Ishqiya followed with four awards.
Arbaaz Khan, the producer of Dabangg said, “It is an amazing feeling. It actually completes the entire journey of the film. I got a couple of messages but was not sure, when finally my wife called me and told me that we have won. I must say that I feel honoured and ecstatic.”

“It’s barely sinking in. The fact that film like this managed to entertain people and has found its place is a high. The fact that we have won the national award is quite a kick. It is my first film and getting the biggest recognition in the country is a big high,” said Habib Faisal, the director of Do Dooni Char.
Vishal Bharadwaj said, “We never expected Ishqiya to get the response it got commercially and critically. I thought that it was one of my best music score. Thankfully the songs clicked with the masses.
Our small film winning four national awards is a great achievement as a producer, music composer and a proud mentor to Abhishek.”

Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger goes global….

Salman Khan’s next flick, Ek Tha Tiger is all set to be shot all across the globe. The film will be shot in five countries around the world. News has it that Chile in South America, Dublin in Ireland, and Istanbul, have been confirmed so far.
Ek Tha Tiger will be Yash Raj’s biggest budget film. A trusted source says, “Kabir is not shooting at these locations just to beautify his film.
The film is based on a true story. Kabir is exploring seven countries, out of which they will finalise five. He had gone on a recce recently to figure out the logistics. So far they have been able to decide on these three countries.”
The shooting of the film will begin in July and is slated for an early summer release, next year. The first shooting schedulesis in Chile.
Kabir Khan refused to divulge any further details.

Kareena To Be Waxed At Tussauds!

Following the footsteps of Bollywood superstars Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan , Aishwarya Rai, Hrithik Roshan and Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor has also made it to the prestigious Madame Tussauds museum.

Reports suggest that Bebo is the next Bollywood star to be waxed at the famous museum. The decision was taken after the management was inundated with mails and letters from her fans asking for her figure at the museum.

Kareena, who is shooting for Reema Kagti's film in Puducherry, will be going to the UK to meet the officials of Tussauds, after which a decision will be taken about the wax figure's look.

She will be the second Bollywood actress after Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at Tussauds.

Now A Documentary On Mamata Banerjee's Life

Renowned Bengali filmmaker Gautam Ghose plans to make a documentary on Mamata Banerjee's life.

He is so impressed by the political leader that he thinks there is no other way in which he can pay a tribute to the woman he admires.

Ghose struck upon this idea when he saw a video on the West Bengal CM's life, made by a local channel.

"They had asked me to help assemble the footages and when I went through it, Mamatadi came across as such an interesting character that I decided to make a full blown documentary on her. She is an ordinary person with no political lineage. It is all due to her hard work and down-to-earth attitude that she is where she is today. The educated middle class has a strange snobbery about people like Mamata and I think it is high time they change their attitude," he says.

On Banerjee's recent victory Ghose adds, "The Left party ruled for 33 years and a single party ruling for such a long time is not good for democracy. They had their own natural decline and no one can deny didi's achievement."

The ace filmmaker plans to start the documentary as soon as the feature film that he is currently working on, gets done.

"I have already spoken to didi about it. Whenever she has some time, we will have a long session of interviews with her," he said.

Rajinikanth's Vitals Now Normal

Rajinikanth's vital parameters have now returned to normal levels.

Hospital officials say that the southern superstar is well into recovery, and is spending time with family.

As per reports, he is still being kept in the ICU in order to prevent infection and restrict visitors.

Currently, Rajinikanth is on an oral diet, post the gastric infection that he was admitted with.

Rajinikanth was admitted in a Chennai hospital on May 13, with fever and fluid retention. This infection rapidly morphed into acute gastro-intestinal and respiratory problems.

With reports of a regular check up, dialysis for the star, doing rounds, this is finally some good news for the family, friends and millions of Rajini fans.

Salman To Play A RAW Agent

Salman Khan seems to be getting ready to play his most realistic character yet.

In Kabir Khan's much talked-about film, that will go on the floors towards the end of the year, Salman will play the role of an undercover agent for India's external intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).

To get into the mind of a RAW agent would require a level of intellectual preparation that Salman, who believes in spontaneity, has never undertaken in his life.

Says a source, "Salman has always been a very spontaneous actor. Woh dil se kaam karta hai. But when he heard the script for Kabir Khan's film, Salman was absolutely fascinated.

He couldn't get over the fact that ordinary civilians sometimes act as undercover government agents. Aisa bhi hota hai kya? he asked Aditya Chopra, who went to Salman with the offer. Salman has agreed to undertake all the preparation needed for the part."

Playing a RAW agent is not quite the same experience as playing a swanky flamboyant guns-and-gals secret agent in the James Bond or Mission Impossible series.

Says the source, "It's far more complicated. Salman has to be a covert not an overt agent. RAW agents are taught to blend with the mainstream, to not stand out in a crowd, to be as nondescript as possible.

And yet, when the need arises, they need to be panther-like in their intellectual and physical agility. Salman has lately been doing extremely flamboyant parts. This one requires him to go the other way."

Saif Ali Khan, too, plays an undercover agent in his home production Agent Vinod. Director Sriram Raghavan has made sure Saif stays within the authentic zone.

But Kabir Khan, with his experience in well-researched documentary and docu-drama feature films, is looking at giving an entirely new dimension to Salman's personality.

When asked if Salman plays a RAW agent in his film Kabir Khan replied, "You know I will not comment on that."

In an earlier tete-a-tete Kabir had said, "Whatever I will direct next will have to be in the realistic space. My roots are in documentary filmmaking. And even if I make feature films, I can't stray too far away from my origins."

Aishwarya unveils the first look of ‘Heroine’ at Cannes…

Aishwarya Rai once again grab the eyeballs with her ravishing look at the unveiling of the first look of director Madhur Bhandarkar’s film Heroine at the Cannes Film Fest.
Aishwarya was accompanied by the film’s director Madhur Bhandarkar and producer Ronnie Screwvala as the trio announced the film ‘Heroine’.
Talking to reporters, Ash said: “Heroine is a film that the team was very excited about and yes I have just agreed to come on board. Madhur has been speaking to me for many years to collaborate together on a film and I am glad we are finally working together on HEROINE. He is the director of multiple award winning films in India and hence, as an actor I’m certainly looking forward to this experience.”

Box Office Reports Of Ragini MMS

Vikram Bhatt’s Haunted – 3d and Ekta Kapoor’s Ragini MMS pulled crowds to theaters and is doing very well.
Last Friday saw the release of four films – Ragini MMS, Stanley Ka Dabba, Shagird and Love U… Mr. Kalakaar.
Of the quartet, Ragini MMS took the lead in weekend business at the box office. The film did particularly well in Mumbai and rounded off its weekend with a business of Rs. 4.4 crores. Given the fact that there are no big releases in the coming weeks, it is expected to retain its place at the marquee.
Stanley Ka Dabba got rave reviews following which its business did pick up over the weekend. The film made Rs 24.9 lakhs on Friday, Rs 49.1 lakhs on Saturday and the collections on Sunday rose to Rs 75 lakhs.
The other two releases Shagird and Love U… Mr. Kalakaar witnessed very poor response at theatres.
However, still holding steady is Vikram Bhatt’s Haunted – 3d which made Rs. 3.5 crore nett during the weekend. The film’s ten-day box office collections now stand at Rs 18 crores.

Celebden wishes Rajnikanth a speedy recovery…

It may take a while before we see Rajinikanth back in his larger-than-life avatar, as the superstar of South cinema has been admitted to a hospital for the third time in the past two months.
Fans have been earnestly praying for his speedy recovery and the doctors have assured that Rajinikanth’s health is gradually stabilizing.
Rajinikanth is presently undergoing treatment for lung and liver ailments at Sri Ramchandra Medical Centre at Porur where he was hospitalized on Saturday. On Monday, the doctors conducted a minor surgical procedure to remove excess fluid from the actor’s lungs and he is said to be doing better since then.
Meanwhile, there has been a rumour that Rajini sir is suffering from lung cancer.
Special teams of doctors are attending to the actor to investigate the root of the problem and provide him the necessary treatment. In addition, doctors have advised that Rajini restrict visitors completely to avoid recurring infections.
Meanwhile, the fate of Rajinikanth’s next film Rana hangs in the balance as the superstar is not likely to resume work soon.

Osama's Death On Saturday Night Live Now

From a Hollywood film to a video game, Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden's death has become entertainment fodder. And now his violent end will be spoofed on the hit US comedy show Saturday Night Live.

SNL will bring together Osama and Disney princess Ariel from the Little Mermaid, played by Emmy winning actress Tina Fey, in its spoof, reported New York Post online.

"Fey, done up as a mermaid is leading the full SNL cast in a musical showstopper of the classic Disney tune Under the Sea. For the number's finale, Laden's corpse is dropped from the rafters," said a source from the show's sets.

The skit lampooning the terrorist's trip to a watery grave is the brain child of the '30 Rock' star Fey. It's unclear which SNL cast members will take on the other beloved 'Little Mermaid' characters crab.

Kissing scene with Kalki Koechlin was shocker: Co-actress

Kissing is no more a taboo in Indian movies and most actors are doing it, but not for the one-film-old Kirti Kulhari because the newcomer was asked to lock lips with her co-actress Kalki Koechlin for Shaitan. She says it shocked her.

"The kiss with Kalki in the film was quite a shocker for me because I was not prepared for that," Kirti told IANS.

"Director Bejoy Nambiar used to joke around on the set that Kalki and Kirti will kiss, but I took it as a joke till I realized I have to do it. I was quite shocked and that's what you'll see on the screen - my shock and my real emotions coming out. It was too sudden," added the actress who made her big screen debut with Khichdi - The Movie last year.

Set in Mumbai, Anurag Kashyap's forthcoming production venture Shaitan is about evil in human beings and is full of disturbing scenes. Nambiar also roped in Rajeev Khandelwal, Gulshan Deviah, Shiv Pandit and Neil Bhoopalam for his maiden venture that revolves around five youngsters.

The kissing scene was not the only part in the film that Kirti was uncomfortable with.

"I have a lot of confidence in Bejoy as a director; so I have done a few things in the film, which otherwise I would have taken a lot of time to get comfortable with. Like wearing a bikini. I would not have done it, but considering the kind of film it is, Bejoy explained why it is important and I did it," said the 24-year-old.

"There is another back shot that suggests that my boyfriend and I are making out. Even about that I was quite apprehensive, but I knew if Bejoy is thinking something, then it will be right. So I went ahead with it," she added.

Before doing films, Kirti used to work as a model. She started her modelling career in 2007 and has done ad films for products like Videocon, Parachute hair oil and ICICI Bank.

Shaitan sees Kirti as Tanya Sharma, a lower middle-class girl aspiring to be a top model. But she is unable to fulfil her big dreams.

For the actress, shooting for the film, which is landing in the theatres June 10, was mentally and physically exhausting.

"I have scenes which were very tough. There is a scene where I'm being slapped and my head is being banged against the wall. In one scene, I'm lying in a pool of blood and then one is where I'm in the hospital with all bruises.

"For me, it was a very disturbing experience. Because even though you are an actor, you don't always act, there are moments when you actually feel what is happening in a scene. Many times during the shoot I cried to vent my emotions; it was very tough," she said.

Mallika Sherawat chooses Cannes fest over White House Invitation…

Mallika Sherawat had to snub the White house invitation in order to walk down the French Riviera town of Cannes.
This year, Mallika will once again be seen at the Cannes fest as she hosts a cocktail party to promote her film Politics of Love, Love Barack on Nikki Beach. This will be the actress’s third appearance at Cannes. She first went to Cannes in 2005 to promote her film The Myth with Jackie Chan and then in 2010 to promote Hisss.
Mallika was invited for “An Evening of Poetry” at the White House on May 11. But, coincidently, on the same day the actress has to be in Cannes.

News has it that producer Sajid Nadiadwala and director Vishal Bhardwaj are very keen on roping in Asin to play the role of a south Indian girl who falls in love with a Punjabi guy to be played by Shahrukh.
Rumour has it that bboth, the producer and the drector have already had a word with Asin and they feel that she is the only actress who fits their bill. The actress is currently working in Nadiadwala’s production Housefull 2.
Asin, is super excited to work opp Shahrukh and that too in a Bhardwaj film.

Film On Khap Panchayat To Release In July

Khap, a film starring Om Puri and newbie actress Yuvika Choudhary, is all set to hit theatres on July 29.

The film seeks to portray how Khap Panchayats, a system of social administration prevalent mostly in villages of Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, adopt extreme ends to prevent marriages within the same 'gotra', often resulting in multiple deaths.

The issue has been in news lately and 'Khap' borrows from the numerous cases reported in the newspapers.

"The Supreme Court has announced that Khap panchayat is illegal and it is inhuman to kill young children in the name of false honor. The film questions the tradition of Khap. Such a hard hitting subject is narrated in a very entertaining manner," said Om Puri.

The film also stars actors Govind Namdev, Manoj Pahwa, Anooradha Patel and Mohnish Behl and is directed by Ajai Sinha.

"We live in cosmopolitan cities so we don't realize the mayhem caused by the Khap Panchayats. The film takes you back to rules which require correction. Seven Malayalam Films To Compete For National Award

Seven Malayalam films, including Makara Manju (Mist of the Capricorn) by noted film-maker Lenin Rajendran, have been chosen by the South zone selection committee of the jury to compete in this year's National Film Awards.

Other Malayalam films are Pranchiyettan and the Saint by Ranjith, Veetilekkulla Vazhi by Biju, Gaddama by Kamal, Atmakatha by Premlal, Adaminte Makan Abu by Salim Ahamed and Janaki by M G Sasi.

Culture department sources said three other critically acclaimed films Yugapurushan (R Sukumaran), T D Dasan standard B (Mohan Raghavan) and Electra (Shyamaprasad) failed to make it to the list.

Sohail Khan to Produce Sher Khan Movie starring Salman Khan

After co-producing Ready, Sohail Khan will start yet another project with Salman Khan called Sher Khan. The film will have Sallu playing a lion-hearted ‘He-Man’ who lives life for the world. Sher Khan will be a treat for kids and will boast of some mind-blowing special effects.
Telugu writer Kona Venkat, who wrote the original Telugu version of Ready, is currently working on the script of Sher Khan. While Salman has been finalised for the lead role, the female lead is yet to be finalised.

Shahrukh Khan's ‘Ra.One’ equip to work toward getting digitalized

Shahrukh Khan’s expensive superhero outfit for his upcoming sci-fi flick ‘Ra.One’ may be the talk of town currently, but the superstar does not seem to be impressed with it. Reportedly, SRK felt that something was missing when he saw his specially-designed outfit that was made in Los Angeles and was worth Rs 1 crore.

And now the superhero costume will apparently become costlier, as SRK and his SFX team has decided to digitalize the suit. Outfit to emit rays Tabloids reported that the latest addition to the suit would be a feature that would make the outfit emit rays on-screen.

Sources disclosed, “This has now become even more expensive as it is being digitalized. This outfit will now be made through special effects and this has been decided after having a talk with marketing and animation professionals.”

“It goes perfectly with SRK’s character that is made of solid electricity and has come in the real world from a virtual world to fight against Ra.One the evil force,” revealed a source.

The best part is that King Khan is now happy with the costume and feels that whatever amount is spent on the movie was worth it. ‘Ra.One’ costume’s new shining look is expected to be liked by one and all, especially children and SRK feels that the movie would be loved by all.

SRK promotes ‘Ra.One’ The first look of ‘Ra.One’ has generated great response and this has excited the Baadshah of Bollywood. Among the promotional activities for the movie is a special video game that is inspired by the movie and is slated to hit the markets soon.

The film stars Shahrukh Khan, Arjun Rampal and Kareena Kapoor in the lead role. In this film, Shahrukh will be seen playing the role of a superhero for the very first time. ‘Ra.One’ is slated to hit the silver screens on October 26.

Rajinikanth works his appeal on healing center patients

The doctors at St. Isabel Hospital in Mylapore have removed phlegm from Rajini’s chest and he has been feeling a lot better. So instead of just dozing all the time, Rajini has been meeting other patients and enquiring about their health.

Doctors say even the sickest of patients have smiled after meeting Rajinikanth. “He is full of energy and his health condition isn’t stopping him from thinking about the others,” a doctor is quoted as saying.

Rajinikanth was hospitalised on Wednesday last week. The superstar’s health has been out of sorts ever since he began filming his next movie Rana on April 29. On the inaugural day of the shoot, he was hospitalized briefly and was advised total rest for a few days. But Rajini returned to work only to make his health worse and was hospitalised again. He is likely to be discharged soon.
