Deepika's Hot Skirt To Benefit Salman's Charity

Deepika Padukone's skirt goes under the hammer online. Proceeds from the auction will benefit Salman Khan's NGO 'Being Human'.

Coincidentally, the film she wears the garment in, is Abhishek Bachchan starrer Dum Maaro Dum and AB Jr is married to Sallu's ex Aishwarya Rai.

Says a source, "Producer-director Rohan Sippy came up with the idea of auctioning the skirt online, through the film's official website with support being provided by a portal that auctions film memorabilia. The beneficiary was discussed and the choice was unanimous - Being Human. They feel it has been involved in some exceptional charity work."

Why Deepika's skirt? "While on a nationwide tour, the DMD team is discovering that while the track itself is being criticised, there is great excitement over the costume that Deepika wears in the music video. There is a huge demand for it," reveals the source.

Rohan Sippy says, "We are all surprised by the reaction to Deepika's look in the track. We decided to auction it for charity." Anushka Manchanda has crooned for the DMD title track Mit Jaaye Gham song that Pritam Chakraborthy composed.

Designer Anahita Shroff Adjania, who was responsible for Deepika's look in the film, says, "We wanted today's girl at a rave - barefoot, dancing on the sand, wearing anklets and a white dress. Deepika's blouse made of stretch lycra, looks like a choli and is cut in such a way that the back looks bare. The skirt moves like a subtle shimmer as there are pieces of metal sheeting in it along with chiffon and is attached to a leather band. Inside, she's wearing a tiny sequined hotpants cut very high. She has a tattoo and feathers in her hair to give her a beach-grunge look."

Deepika Padukone in Dum Maro Dum

Baffling wasn't it? So was it for Deepika Padukone. The actress was recently offered Rs. 4 crores by a wealthy NRI family in London to perform the four minute long 'Dum Maro Dum' song for them in private. Deepika, who had stayed away from private performances, turned down this offer too, though the pay was alluring. The family had requested Deepika Padukone to dance for the song wearing the same silver tattered mini skirt she wore in the movie. Deepika confirmed her stand that she will not perform in private parties, no matter how high the price offered. While Deepika Padukone has maintained a ban on private performances, her colleagues Katrina Kaif and Mallika Sherawat have been raking income from private performances. Last year, Priyanka Chopra was offered three crores for performing at a private New Year eve party but the offer was turned down by the actress. 13 More images after the break...

Deepika Padukone Crowned `Tattoo Queen'

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has been chosen as the "tattoo queen" by the organisers of the first Tattoo Convention in India.

The 25-year-old star sports tattoos of her former boyfriend's initials and another one of an anklet.

After watching her in a remixed song in the upcoming film Dum Maaro Dum, IndiaInk Invention got in touch with the model-turned-actress and requested her to visit their first-ever convention which took place here on April 10.

They were keen on her presence at the expo as they consider the Om Shanti Om actress to be the "tattoo queen".

However, the actress could not attend the convention as she was abroad for a film shoot.

The convention's organiser Manoj Thakur, Partner at Par Excellence Entertainment, said, "Deepika's absence was felt, especially at an event that she would have readily identified with.

With her own much-written about RK tattoo at the base of her neck and the cutting-edge Dum Maaro Dum tattoo she's seen sporting in the movie, she would have been the perfect ambassador for this tattoo expo."

As Deepika was shooting in London for Desi Boyz, she could not attend the event, but forwarded the invitation to her Dum Maaro Dum team. Abhishek Bachchan, Prateik and Rohan Sippy attended the convention instead.

A source told Mid Day: "The family who made the offer is extremely rich and wealthy and from Knightsbridge. "They were ready to pay her a bomb just for one song. The actress initially thought it was a joke, but when the proposal came in form of a letter with the amount cited, she was shocked.
