Malayalma star Prithviraj marries childhood friend Supriya

Upcoming star Prithviraj Monday tied the knot with his childhood journalist friend Supriya Menon at a private function here.

“Just 30 people took part in the marriage ceremony. We decided to have a purely personal affair because in our family there are very aged people and they wanted it to be a solemn function, and hence we decided to make it a very private affair,” Prithivraj’s mother, actress Mallika Sukumaran, told media persons outside a resort, near the bride’s residence here.
Denying it was a secret affair, she said: “They have been childhood friends and we have known each other for a very long time and there was nothing secretive in this.”
Prithviraj’s late father, Sukumaran was also an actor and created a special place for himself in the film industry through his dialogue delivery and subtle acting.
Mallika also told media persons that there would be two receptions – one on Saturday for family, and another the next day for the film fraternity.
Incidentally, Prithviraj had denied rumours and speculations of his impending marriage when he was in Thiruvananthapuram April 1 for a press meet after the release of his period film “Urumi”.
Supriya, who is from Palakkad, is a journalist and worked as a BBC TV correspondent in Mumbai. She would come here once in a while to do special stories. Prithviraj hails from the capital city.
The 28-year-old actor made a successful debut with “Nandanam” and has starred in more than 50 films, including blockbusters like “Swapnakoodu” (2003), “Classmates” (2006), “Thirakkatha” (2008) and “Urumi” (2011).
His notable Tamil films are “Kana Kandaen” (2005) and “Mozhi” (2007).

Prithviraj getting married to girlfriend Supriya Menon

If we are to go by the reports, Malayalam actor Prithviraj is tying the knot with his secret girlfriend Supriya Menon, who is a Mumbai-based TV news reporter. According to sources, Prithvi's marriage, which is being held today, 25th April at a resort near Palakkat, will be strictly a private ceremony and only chosen few relatives and friends will be present at this low-key profile wedding event.

It was rumoured earlier that Prithviraj had secretly fallen in love with Supriya Menon and had planned to marry her after the release of his much-expected movie Urumi. But he had denied the reports stating that they were false rumours. Today, he is said to be getting married with the TV reporter-girlfriend.

It is not clear whether Prithviraj is getting married or only getting engaged today. A source says that his engagement will take place today and the wedding will happen at a temple later. But some other source close to the actor says that Prithvi feels that his wedding should be a private affair and he does not want to create hype for the event.

However, sources claim that the Mallu star has planned to hold a grand reception at a later date. So he has invited only 50 selected people for his marriage. His guests' list includes relatives and close friends. It is reported that he has issued a 'special identity cards' to these guests. And people without this card are not allowed to attend the exclusive wedding.

Prithviraj wages war against piracy of Urumi

Malayalam actor Prithviraj is very upset with the piracy of his recently released movie Urumi, which was released on Internet by a US-based website for download. The Mallu star has now waged a war against film piracy, by registering a complaint with the Cyber Cell. He has requested the Cell to crack down the culprits.

Malayalam movie Urumi is a multilingual movie, which is made with a whopping amount of 20 crores. Besides playing the lead role, Prithviraj is also one among the producers of the film. It has got lot of demand in the market, but he fears that the free downloading of the movie would affect its collection at the Box Office.

Another big reason that bothers Prithvi the most, is that he has planned to release Urumi in several countries, where people are eagerly waiting for the movie to hit the theatres in their countries. Especially in UAE, it is expected to get huge market. Prithvi thinks that curious fans may resort to downloading of pirated version of Urumi online, which is sure to affect its collection.

However, Urumi is a historical drama, which features Prithviraj, Prabhudeva, Genelia D'Souza and Vidya Balan in the leads. Besides getting rave reviews from critics, the film has also been liked by movie buffs in Kerala. Now, the word of mouth is driving the viewers to the theatres.

Prabhu Deva dubs in Malayalam for Urumi in a day

Tamil actor Prabhu Deva, who is entering Malayalam films with the movie Urumi, has recently dubbed in his own voice for the Malayalam version of director Santosh Sivan's multi-lingual movie. The director is very happy because he completed his dubbing works in just six hours, sources say.

Prabhu Deva recently attended the dubbing work of Urumi at a studio in Chennai last week. Talking about the dubbing of the film, he said that he was totally tensed because he was to speak Malabar dialect of Malayalam, which was being used 400 years ago. He added that it was really fun.

However, Prabhu is playing a pivotal role and has also got a song sequence with Nithya Menon in the film Urumi. He thinks that it would be landmark film in his career. He said that the film is set in16th century. The movie has been shot in awesome locations and it will be a visual treat
