World Cup 2011: South Africa beat India by 3 wickets


South Africa beat India by 3 wickets in the in the 29th game of ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, at Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground, Nagpur. Proteas got the target of 296 when 2 balls were remaining in the innings end. Fifties of Hashim Amla, Jacques Kallis and AB de Villiers. Five wickets of Dale Styen.
According to details Indian captain MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first. Openers Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar played aggressive strokes all around the ground from the beginning and built up an opening stand of 142 runs. On the individual score of 73, Sehwag was clean bowled by Faf du Plessis. On this time Gautam Gambhir came to join the crease along with little master. Both players played sensible cricket and added 125 runs the second wicket partnership during which Tendulkar completed his 48th ODI hundred while Gambhir completed his half century on this stage it seems that India will easily post a 350 plus total on the scoreboard.

After losing all wickets the final score of home side was 296 in 48.3 overs.
Dale Steyn was the most successful bowler from the African side who picked 5 wickets for 50 runs.
Following the target of 296, Proteas took competitively slow but confident start. The South African wicket fell on the total of 41 when Tendulkar took a difficult catch of Captain Graeme Smith on the ball of Zaheer Khan. He can score 16 runs after facing 29 balls. Jacques Kallis and opener Hashim Amla played very sensibly and picks their side’s total to 127. Amla turned back after scoring 61 runs. The innings of well-set Kallis finished on runout. He scored 66 runs with the help of four boundaries. The fourth wicket of African side fell on 223 when Harbhajan Singh finished the 59 runs innings of AB de Villiers.

Wicketkeeper Morne van Wyk was dismissed by Munaf Patel on 5. Johan Botha who was looking a bit aggressive, was taken by Munaf on 23 on the second last ball of 47th over. But Faf du Plessis and Robin Peterson not permitted Indian bowlers to take more wickets and Robin Peterson played the victory short on the fourth ball of the ending over.
At the end Plessis was not out on 25 while Peterson on 18.
