Once Upon... Mumbaai Leads IIFA Nominations Tally



Ajay Devgn starrer Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai leads nominations tally closely followed by Dabangg, Ishqiya and Band Baaja Baaraat at the 12th IIFA Awards to be held in Toronto on June 25.

Over 1500 votes came from the film fraternity during the IIFA voting weekend for the extravaganza to take place in Toronto this year from June 23 to 25.

Online voting for the Awards go live from May 10 and will be open for participation to the global viewers of Bollywood on the IIFA website, IIFA director Sabbas Joseph said.

Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai leads the nominations tally with as many as 12 nominations closely followed by Dabangg with 11 nominations across the popular and other film categories. While Ishqiya has garnered nine nominations, Band Baaja Baaraat follows with eight nominations matched by the political thriller, Rajneeti that has also received eight nominations.

Dabangg, Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai, Ishqiya, Rajneeti, My Name is Khan and Band Baaja Baaraat are in the race for the Best film.

The Best Actor (Male) category includes Salman Khan (Dabangg), Hrithik Roshan (Guzaarish), Ranbir Kapoor (Rajneeti), Ajay Devgn (Once upon a time in Mumbaai) and Shah Rukh Khan (My Name is Khan), while Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (Guzaarish), Katrina Kaif (Rajneeti), Anushka Sharma (Band Baaja Baaraat), Vidya Balan (Ishqiya) and Kareena Kapoor (Golmaal 3) will vie for the Best Actor (Female) category.

Competing for the award in the Best Director category are directors Maneesh Sharma (Band Baaja Baaraat), Abhinav Kashyap (Dabangg), Sanjay Leela Bhansali (Guzaarish), Karan Johar (My Name is Khan), Milan Luthria (Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai) and Vikramaditya Motwane (Udaan).

Salim-Sulaiman (Band Baaja Baaraat), Sajid-Wajid and Lalit Pandit (Dabangg), Vishal-Shekhar (I Hate Luv Storys), Vishal Bharadwaj (Ishqiya), Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy (My Name is Khan) and Pritam (Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai) are competing in the best music category.

Sunidhi Chauhan has been nominated for her chartbusters Sheila Ki Jawaani (Tees Maar Khan) and Ainvayi Ainvayi (Band Baaja Baaraat) along with singer Mamta Sharma for Munni Badnaam Hui (Dabangg) in the Best Singer (Female) category.
